People develop fears through genetics or life experiences. One persons fear is natural disasters. They are afraid of this because they destroy everything.

One way people can develop fears is something they've just witnessed or scary or stressful event. Someone I know has a fear of heights, so they get worried they might fall.

I think phobias are developed when a person might have a bad memory about something, like if your afraid of small spaces maybe one time you were trapped in a small space and your phobia of it dates back then, my mom is scared of spiders and when shes around one she actually cries lol.
